Riad le Clos de Arts

I thought the Riad where we stayed in Marrakesh deserved a post of it's own.  Ry treated me to a lovely stay in a beautiful little Moroccan riad...a home/hotel that faces inward towards an open courtyard.  The owners have taken lovely care of a home that was originally inhabited by a Moroccan family with seven daughters.  The father ensured that his daughters were well educated.  He invited traveling artists and educators into their home to tutor his daughters in languages and fine arts.  The riad is now owned by an amazing Italian/Swiss couple who have restored the home and 7 bedrooms into a beautiful little hotel.  We loved eating our meals with everyone in the dining room or on the balcony.  In the evenings the owners would bring us fresh lemon verbena tea and local tangerines, and we would chat with them about their interesting travels all over the world.  They were interested to know that we were Mormon as they had never "met any"and didn't think we were "so strange"!  Ah, I would go all the way back just to stay in their little patch of heaven, sipping lemon verbena infusions, soaking up the hot Moroccan sun on their balcony and eating heavenly Moroccan tagines from their kitchen every day...
