Highlights:
Sneaking out to the beach with Mara & Juleen to suprise the "big boys", who were building a bonfire out in the dark. We laughed and laughed (quietly of course) the whole way until we sprang out from the pile of driftwood we were hiding in. Can't say that they were suprised, but we sure had fun!
The kids loved the Bean Auction put on by Tyler and Juleen. They were given baggies of beans and could bid on little toys and treats that T & J put up for bidding. GREAT fun...so much so that we adopted the BA into the Winkel Family Reunion this year!
The Tillamook Cheese Factory was a memorable outing; the boys (Thys, Grant, Adam & Tate) tackled a GIGANTIC bowl of 30+ scoops of ice cream...and finished it ALL. It wasn't quite a crowning moment of parenthood for Ry & I, but it was great fun to watch!
The kids (large & small) couldn't get enough of the beach, even if it was rainy and overcast. They still managed to take their daily plunge into the frigid Pacific. They also loved building with driftwood & making sand drippings. Ryan, Nate, Tyler & Jared had as much fun building bonfires and playing on the beach as the littles.
I personally loved our nights hanging out with the grown-ups. Loved playing games, chatting and laughing...and especially loved our "disco night", courtesy of Juleens mini disco ball. And Mara's candy bar game was great fun as well!
I feel sad living far away from such good friends...we miss them all of the time but we're glad to have these memories to hang on to. Until next time!
