We found cover in the belly of the horse, during a mighty downpour! There Thys told us the story of the Trojan Horse found in Homers 'Odyssey' while we shared a bag of trail mix. And Jake almost lost his life falling down the ladder. Yikes!

We were reminded how beautiful the countryside is in Turkey in the springtime. It's hard to see it in the city, unless you're in Emirgan Park when the tulips are on. But in the countryside there are all kinds of trees and wildflowers in bloom...especially poppies. Quite fitting considering the kids recent 'Wizard of Oz' production.

The kids had fun running the trails that switch back through the ruins...nobody gets after them and the Turkish people just smile at the kids and say "Cok tatli!" ("So sweet!"). Ten minutes in our car with all of us and they'd be singing a different tune! Speaking of tunes, as we neared the end of the trail the kids ran out into the ampitheatre and gave us a mini-concert. Jake sang "Over the Rainbow"...can't remember what Mia sang for us...and then we were on our way!
