On December 23rd Thys, Mom, Dad, Cody, Jessica and I drove to the Dachau Concentration Camp. There is an amazing memorial site there now that gives so much history and detail into what was a heartwrenching reality for hundreds of thousands of people during World War 2. We knew it would be a hard thing to see. Some things should not be forgotten.

A glimpse through the gates
We took a sobering walk around the grounds, viewing the barracks, the crematorium, and some of the chapels that have been built for worshipping after the war. I opted not to post pictures of the crematorium...the pictures conjure up too many harrowing thoughts.
Watchtower and fenceline
This is the main square where thousands of people would congregate every morning and evening when the camp was in use. Sadly, this patch of earth and sky have seen too many lives lost.
